Ngaoundéré: Day at the Market

Reasons I don’t post photos:

  1. Charging camera battery.
  2. The amount of attention/dérangement received increases when one pulls out a camera around Cameroonians.
  3. Uploading photos takes FOREVER. (I spent at least a good 5 hours uploading these; however, as they say, “A watched upload never loads,” so I’ve been using this time to process data collected from health center.)

Regardless, I do enjoy taking photos so maybe this will turn into a once-every-two months sort of thing.

Without further ado, welcome to Ngaoundéré, the region capital of the Adamawa.

Bats. Bats. Bats. For some reason they swarm over this one area everyday.

So many books. If you dig, you can find some classics in French, English, German and Fulfuldé.

“Mi yidi ma.” “Mi yiday ma!” (I know enough Fulfuldé to turn down any potential husbands, which usually makes them laugh. Translation: “I love/want you.” “I don’t love/want you!”)

Still trying to convince me of his merits as a husband.

“Madame! Film-moi!” “D’accord” “C’est bon, non?” “Oui. C’est bon.”
