Field Notes, Tomfoolery

Ngatt Newsflash

In a recent bit of electrifying news, plans to install solar panels were announced at the most recent town meeting.

Reactions varied:

“We’re getting electricity!! Everyone will go and buy computers!” – Excited resident.

“Oh that’s great…we’ll be able to stay up past 18:00…like we used to in Bankim.” -Disgruntled Affected Health Worker.

“Are you sure? They have been promising my village electricity for the past ten years.”-Skeptical Peace Corps Volunteer.

And then, on this historic day, we learned they would not be installed for at least two years and so life reverted back to normal and village routine continued.
